The Third Week of Advent


Hello Families of Second Graders,
Welcome to the third week of advent.  A week that represents the gift of joy!  Here's to a joyous week that lies ahead.  Please know that your children will not have their routinely scheduled learning lessons.  Instead, this week will be spent preparing for our wonderful "music concert" that will take place on Wednesday evening,  faith based learning lessons, and enjoying enrichment activities that center around the theme of Christmas.  Our class Christmas party will take place on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until around 11:30 a.m.  May you all have a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!  Please continue reading to discover all of the events that will be taking place this week.

 Upcoming Dates
Monday ~ Christmas Crazy Sock Day!

Tuesday ~ Pay a $1 to wear an ugly Christmas sweater!

Wednesday ~ Pajama Day if we make our goal of 200!!!

Thursday ~ Mass at 8:15, Annual Sing-a-Long, Christmas parties in the classroom!  Dismissal is at noon!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to Holy Week.  In one week the gift of the resurrection will once again be celebrated.          Here's to a week of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  Three simple actions to honor and to bring us closer to our savior, Jesus Christ.  It's my hope that you each have a beautiful Holy Week, a blessed Easter Sunday, and a wonderful Spring Break.  This week will be quite unique for your children, and so, I have listed key changes and/or activities that will be taking place this week. The Month of May Has Arrived!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the month of May!  This last month of school is bound to fly, and typically the children become more fatigued and excited for the end of the school year.  Please also know that this will be the final week for reading homework, however, the children will have a weekly spelling test for the next two weeks. It's the last week of school!

Hello Second Grade Families, We have arrived at the very last week of school!  This week is going to be super simple as I am now busily grading assessments, working on your child's report cards, and completing cumulative files for your children.  Inside your children's summer gift from me was a "memory book" for the students to work on.  I'd highly encourage having your children complete a few pages each day to assist them in practicing their writing skills.   Also, have you heard of the "summer slide?"  The summer slide is a term educators use to explain children "sliding back" in their learning due to not engaging in any academic activities over the course of the summer.  However, there's a way to prevent your child from experiencing the summer slide.  Research indicates, that students who read daily and practice their math skills often avoid the summer slide.  Here are a few tips to assist your child this summer.
