Hello October!
Happy October to all of our Second Grade Families,
I'd like to begin this newsletter with a great big thank you for attending your child's parent-teacher conferences. What a blessing it was to have had the time to sit down with each of you and converse about your child. Thank you for your partnership! I greatly appreciate the time you took out of your busy schedules to sit down and discuss your child's academic, social, and spiritual growth. This week is a full week and it is also the very first week in the month of October, so please continue reading to discover all that will be taking place both inside our classroom and right here at ACS.
Social Studies (Thoughtful Citizens)~
The students will continue to focus on the different types of landforms.
Here are some of the landforms that will be discussed in class:
Religion (Active Christians)
The students will focus on "Obeying God Our Father " utilizing the
Jesus, Our Life Religion series.
Throughout the month of October, the students will also be learning about our Blessed Mother, Mary and the gift of the rosary. All students will be attending an all school rosary on Monday, October 1st.
The students will pray during a variety of times through out the day.
The students will attend our all school Mass on Friday, October 5th at 8:10 a.m.

Monday ~
Read for 15 minutes and log your reading on the handout that is located inside your homework packet.
Complete the Math skill page
Tuesday~
Read for 15 minutes and log your reading on the handout that is located inside your homework packet.
Complete the plural nouns skill page
Wednesday ~
Read for 15 minutes and log your reading on the handout that is located inside your homework packet
Complete the reading comprehension page
Thursday ~
Read for 15 minutes and log your reading on the handout that is located inside your homework packet
Complete the spelling practice skill sheet
Don’t forget to have one of your parents sign your agenda this evening!
Parents, please note that your child’s spelling words for this week are on their reading log and should also be written inside their agendas. Also note, that there is a list of High Frequency words. The High Frequency Words are not on your child’s spelling test. However, they are words that students need to learn to read and these words are focused on each week in our Journeys reading series.

Target Skills ~ Text and Graphic Features, Using Context, Questions
Math (Resourceful Learners)
The
students will continue their math lessons in unit 2 from our Go Math
series! This unit focuses on place value to the thousands.
