Halloween is Right Around the Corner!

Image
Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the week of Halloween!  I'm sure the kids will be excited for the upcoming holiday, so we will be taking the time on Friday to do some fun filled Halloween based activities.  We are keeping it simple this year due to COVID, but I'm certain your children will have a "Spooktacular" time.  Our activities will include a Halloween craft and watching a kid friendly Halloween video.  I'm hoping to have the kids view either Spookley the Square Pumpkin, or The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.  Each child will also receive some Halloween goodies at dismissal time! Also, I would like to thank you all for an amazing few days of parent-teacher conferences.  Thank you for all of your continued support and efforts.  It was wonderful to be able to sit down and discuss your child with you and to get to know each of my student's parents better.  It was truly a gift and your kiddos are all working so hard and are such an amazing group of kid

Hello Second Grade Families, This week will be a shorter week due to Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Thursday, October 22nd will be a half day and students in grades K-5 will be dismissed at noon.  There will be no school held on Friday, October 23rd due to conferences.  Also know that the second graders will not have a spelling test this week and they also will not have a reading log.  In lieu of the reading log and studying for their spelling test, they will begin working on a project to prepare them for All Saint's Day.  Your children will have this week and the following week to work on their saintly project.  Every second grader will be assigned a specific saint in which to research and will have two components to complete for this second grade faith based activity. First, every child will fill out and complete a "mini-poster" of their assigned saint. Secondly, every second grader will create a depiction of their saint utilizing a water bottle. Below, you will find a

Hello October!

It's October!  Let's take the time to savor all that this blessed month has to offer.  The month where cooler weather often arrives and our children often look forward to Halloween.  In our Catholic faith, this month is also one of two months that are dedicated to our blessed mother, Mary.  May we all take some time to honor our blessed mother through praying The Hail Mary, or through praying the rosary.  October 13th will mark the day that the blessed mother appeared for the last time to three children in Fatima, Portugal.  This is the day that the "Miracle of the Sun" occurred.  Our blessed mother is with us and she hears our prayers.  Blessed Mother, Mary, pray for us!  Please continue reading to discover all that will be taking place both within the second grade classroom and right here at ACS.
