Hello Families of Second Graders,
Can you believe that we are entering the month of May? Spring fever is in the air and the children are greatly anticipating their Spring Music concert, writing their research report on their assigned famous scientist, and experiencing the crowning of Mary, our Blessed Mother on May 1st. It is going to be a beautiful, yet quickly passing month. Please continue reading this newsletter to discover all that will be taking place in the second grade and right here at ACS school.
Spelling ~ Words with oo
Grammar ~ What is an adverb?
Writing ~ The students will experience Opinion Writing that relates to our story of the week.
Informative Writing (Research Report ~ Famous Scientists!!!)
Target Skill ~ Fact and Opinion, Author's Purpose, Questions
Math ~ The students will begin learning about measurement.
The students will also have lessons about reading graphs and interpreting data.
Social Studies ~ The students will continue their lessons on economics. Our focus will be on "saving" versus "spending." The students will also learn about bartering.
Religion ~
The students will pray during a variety of times throughout our school day.
The students will attend our school wide Mass this week and the May Crowning of our Blessed Mother.
The students will utilize their religion texts to learn about the following concepts this week:
