Spelling ~ Short Vowels o, u, e

Target Skills ~ Compare and Contrast, Informational Text, Questions, Using a Glossary

Math
The students will continue their lessons on even and odd numbers, understanding place value, and problem solving.

Social Studies ~  The students will continue their lessons on map skills and they will then navigate into learning about landforms.  
Here is the content that your children are focusing on: 
  • Identifying and locating the seven continents
  • Identifying and locating the five oceans
  • Cardinal directions (north, south, east, and west)
  • Reading maps
Religion
The students will continue to focus on "The Blessed Trinity" utilizing the
Jesus, Our Life Religion series.

 The students will attend our school wide, Community Prayer service on Tuesday, August 28th.

The students will attend our all school Mass on Friday, August 31st.

The students will pray during a variety of times through out the day.

Homework
The students will need to prepare for their Spelling test that will take place on Friday!
The students will not have any other formal homework until after the Labor Day holiday!  It is my intent, to allow the students time to acclimate to school and to their new routine.  It is also my hope, that this will allow the children to receive a full night's rest.

  Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to Holy Week.  In one week the gift of the resurrection will once again be celebrated.          Here's to a week of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  Three simple actions to honor and to bring us closer to our savior, Jesus Christ.  It's my hope that you each have a beautiful Holy Week, a blessed Easter Sunday, and a wonderful Spring Break.  This week will be quite unique for your children, and so, I have listed key changes and/or activities that will be taking place this week. On Monday, April 11th ~  The second graders will enjoy a STREAM lesson in the morning.  The students will also have two specials on this day, Art & a special Music class. On Thursday, April 14th ~ The students will be dismissed at noon. The Month of May Has Arrived!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the month of May!  This last month of school is bound to fly, and typically the children become more fatigued and excited for the end of the school year.  Please also know that this will be the final week for reading homework, however, the children will have a weekly spelling test for the next two weeks. It's the last week of school!

Hello Second Grade Families, We have arrived at the very last week of school!  This week is going to be super simple as I am now busily grading assessments, working on your child's report cards, and completing cumulative files for your children.  Inside your children's summer gift from me was a "memory book" for the students to work on.  I'd highly encourage having your children complete a few pages each day to assist them in practicing their writing skills.   Also, have you heard of the "summer slide?"  The summer slide is a term educators use to explain children "sliding back" in their learning due to not engaging in any academic activities over the course of the summer.  However, there's a way to prevent your child from experiencing the summer slide.  Research indicates, that students who read daily and practice their math skills often avoid the summer slide.  Here are a few tips to assist your child this summer.
