Catholic Schools Week!
Welcome to Catholic Schools Week!
The time when we celebrate the gift of Catholic education. Fasten your seat belts because it's going to be a very busy week! Due to a wide variety of Catholic Schools Week activities, our regular classroom lessons will be modified. Please know that your children will not have a weekly spelling test due to the time constraints for this week's schedule.
ELA
Essential question that the students will answer:
Why are reading and writing important?
Target Skills: Understanding Characters, Author's Choice, Analyze/Evaluate
Writing Focus: Narrative Writing
Grammar Focus: The verb "be"
Spelling Focus: The Long e sound for y (lessons will take place inside the classroom)
Math
The students will begin their lessons on double digit subtraction with and without regrouping.
Religion
On Monday, January 27th, the students will attend our school wide Community Prayer at 8:10am inside the upper hall.
This week the students will learn that "Jesus Forgives" utilizing their Jesus Our Life religion text book. The students will hear the story about the paralytic man that Jesus cures. As a class, we will also practice praying, "The Act of Contrition" to prepare the students for the sacrament of First Reconciliation.

The students will pray throughout their school day and this includes at daily Pledge/Prayer, before lunch, and prior to dismissal.
The students will attend our school wide Mass on Friday, January 31st at 8:30 am.

Here are child friendly websites to enhance your child's learning at home.
- IXL ~ your child's login information is located inside their agenda. This site can assist your child in the area of reading and math.
- ESpark ~ your child has their login information stapled inside the front of their homework folder. This site can be utilized to build your child's reading and math abilities.
- Tumble Books ~ This is a free site where reading books come to life! Your child can utilize this site to have books read to them and then they can log it on their nightly reading log. Just click on the link below to visit Tumble Books!

- Epic ~ This is a website that will allow you to sign up your child to read books at home through the computer too. The students will also be able to utilize this site at school. I'm hoping to introduce the kids to this website sometime this week because we ran out of time last week.
