Happy President's Day!
I hope that you all had a beautiful four day weekend. This week, the second graders will be learning about the life of Abraham Lincoln who was the 16th president of The United States of America and whose life is still celebrated today! Also, the kickoff to our annual "Fun Run" will take place on Wednesday afternoon, so be on the look out for paper work that will go home with the details of this fundraising event for ACS.
ELA
Essential question that the students will answer:
What makes someone a hero?
Target Skills: Compare and Contrast, Figurative Language, Monitor/Clarify
Writing Focus: Narrative Writing
Grammar Focus: Commas in a Series
Spelling Focus: Words with or and ore
Review and Challenge Words: for, more, report, force
Math
The students will begin their lessons on triple digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping.
Science
The students will continue and complete their lessons on states of matter (solids, liquids, gas).
Religion
The students will attend our school wide Mass on Friday, February 21st at 8:30 am.

ESpark ~ your child has their login information stapled inside the front of their homework folder. This site can be utilized to build your child's reading and math abilities.

How about downloading an academic app for your child's device? There are many apps that will assist your child in mastering their addition and subtraction facts. Here are a few that my own children enjoyed; Sushi Monster, 2nd Grade Splash Math, or Animal Math Second Grade(Made by Teachers).

The students will pray throughout their school day and this includes at daily Pledge/Prayer, before lunch, and prior to dismissal.
The students will be learning about the sacrament of "Penance" utilizing their Jesus is Our Life textbook series.

Homework
The students will need to read nightly for 15 to 20 minutes and log their reading utilizing their reading log. All of the reading logs will be due on Friday, February 21st. The students will need to prepare for their Spelling Test which will take place on Friday, February 21st. | |
