Hello Second Grade Families,
Welcome back from the extended weekend! I hope that you all were able to enjoy the beautiful Fall weather, and were also able to enjoy some much needed down time. This will be another four day week, but it is bound to be full of many academic, as well as, fun activities. In fact, the "Fun Run" will take place this coming Friday afternoon, so if you are able, please support the fundraising activity by visiting funrun.com.

Homework
This week your child will have reading and spelling homework. The second graders are expected to read nightly for at least 15 minutes, and to fill out their reading log. Please sign your child's homework on Thursday for this week. Every second grader will need to hand in their homework on Friday. Please know that explicit directions are given in class to the students. Research shows that students that read nightly for a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes, and then log their reading, typically show the most gains in the area of reading fluency.
All of the students will need to prepare and study this week's Spelling words.
This week, the Spelling Test will take place on Friday.
Don't forget that every second grader has access to the following websites to assist them in the areas of Reading and Math
