Happy Belated Easter!

 

Hello Second Grade Families,

Welcome Back!  I hope that each of you had a blessed Easter and a wonderful Spring Break!             Please know that your children will have both a Spelling Test and Reading homework for this week.   However, next week will be our last week of having assigned reading homework, as I know that the children will be on the countdown until summer break and will be in need of some extra rest at home. It's going to be another busy week at ACS, so please continue reading to discover all that will be transpiring both inside the second grade classroom and right here at Annunciation Catholic School.

ELA


Essential Question:  How can you learn about animals that lived long ago?

Grammar:  What is an adverb?

Spelling:  Words with oo

Phonics:  Words with oo

Writing:  Opinion Writing

The students will begin learning about how to properly write in cursive.

Religion

  • The students will learn about the resurrection of Jesus!
  • The students will utilize their Jesus Our Life textbooks to focus on "He Is Risen, Alelluia!"
  • The students will be attending our all school Mass on Wednessday, April 27th at 8:15 a.m. inside    St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.
  • The students will attend the all school "May Crowning" on Friday, April 29th at 9:15 am.


Don't forget that every second grader has access to the following websites to assist them in the areas of Reading and Math

  • RAZ Kids (the students may use this site to complete their nightly reading homework)
  • Splash Math Learning (This site will assist your child in mastering mathematical concepts that are taught inside our second grade classroom.)
  • The students will continue learning how to type using our class set of Chrome Books this week utilizing the typingclub.com website.

Homework

The students will need to study their spelling words each night this week in order to best prepare them for their weekly Spelling Test.

The students will also need to read nightly and log it.  The reading logs are due this Friday, April 29th.

Monday ~ Art at 12:10

Tuesday ~ Spanish at 12:30 p.m. P.E. at 1:45 p.m. 

Wednesday ~ Mass Day at 8:15 a.m. 

                        Spanish 9:40 and Music at 1:00

Thursday ~    P.E. at 1:45 p.m.

Friday ~  There are no specials on Friday!

April 29, Friday:May Crowning following daily Mass. More details to come.
April 30, Saturday: ACS Family Field Night (5:30pm – 7:30pm) Dads Club welcomes all ACS families to celebrate spring and another wonderful year at Annunciation. Volleyball, basketball, and soccer games for kids and parents, light food and refreshments with family fun. Future Happenings:

May 9, Monday: Student Council Election Speeches at 1:45pm in the Parish Hall.  Parents of candidates are welcome to hear the speeches.

May 16, Monday:St. Gianna Molla presentation with Mrs. Cullen and Pro Life Ministry.  Learn about this beautiful saint and her works with Pro Life.  Earn a service hour.  Presentation will be held in Mrs. Cullen’s classroom.
May 18, Wednesday: Annunciation Catholic School celebration of the Class of 2022 graduation at 1:30 p.m. in the Church.  All students and families are welcome.
