Catholic Schools Week!

Welcome to Catholic Schools Week! The time when we celebrate the gift of Catholic education.  Fasten your seat belts because it's going to be a very busy week!  Due to a wide variety of Catholic Schools Week activities, our regular classroom lessons will be modified.  Please know that your children will not have a weekly spelling test due to the time constraints for this week's schedule.   ELA Essential question that the students will answer:   Why are reading and writing important? Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome back from the extended weekend.  This week your children will be learning more about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Our class will also be learning about what it means to be an individual that has "empathy" through a Class Dojo video series.  In class, we will be more intentional in focusing on being courteous towards one another and in showing kindness to honor the life of Dr. Martin King Jr. ELA Essential question that the students will answer:   Why is it important to keep trying even if something is difficult to do? Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the second week of being back to school.  The students are becoming acclimated to our second grade school routines and we took the time last week to review behavioral expectations, classroom procedures, and second grade rules.  Class Dojo was also introduced last week and the children learned all about what it means to have a "Growth Mindset" with help from our cute monster friend Mojo and his good friend Katie.  This week, the students will be introduced to the skill of what it means to have "Perseverance."  Please know that the videos viewed on Class Dojo can also be viewed at home.  They are great skill based videos that can open up the lines of communication at home between you and your child.  Please continue reading to discover all that will be taking place both inside our classroom and right here at ACS. Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the new year, welcome to the month of January, and welcome back to ACS!  I hope that you and your families all had a beautiful Christmas break filled with warm memories, laughter, and some much needed down time.  We are going to ease into our learning in the second grade this week and will be focusing on procedures, expectations, and getting back into the groove of learning.  In fact, every January I introduce the students to an engaging in class behavior program known as "Class Dojo."  Your kids will love this site!  Class Dojo allows your child to accumulate points for positive behavior choices that are observed inside our classroom.  However, a child can also lose a point, or two,  for behavior infractions that take place inside the classroom.  Please know that I utilize Class Dojo as a way to highlight your child's positive behavior choices, but to also open up the door of communication between parents and children when a poo
