Welcome to Holy Week!
Hello Second Grade Families,
Welcome to Holy Week. The week where we relive Palm Sunday, The Last Supper, the Passion of Christ, and await the gift of the Resurrection. Below you will find a link to free Holy Week activities that you may choose to do with your children.
Free Holy Week Resources from the Sophia Institute
May you all have a blessed Holy Week and may you feel the presence of Christ amidst our own trials, sufferings, and tribulations. May God guide us and protect us during this most challenging time.
Here's this week's schedule for your second grade children:
Please know that the students are going to be moving into new mathematical content that focuses on measurement. Typically, I do not have the students complete every lesson within their GO MATH books in regards to this content. Instead, I carefully select the lessons that will best serve the students and assist them in their mathematical knowledge.

It's Holy Thursday! Some families may want to reenact the Last Supper with your children. The Last Supper took place on the Jewish holiday that's known as "The Passover." Jews today still practice this holiday with a "Seder Meal." Christ told us that he is "the living bread" and the Last Supper took place during a Seder meal, however, we as Catholics know that Christ would be the sacrificial lamb who would save us all from our sins. You may choose to click the link below to recreate "The Last Supper" for your family.

Science ~ The students will continue learning about the lifecycle of plants!
Choose an activity from your folder to assist you in learning about the following:
- The parts of a plant
- How a plant grows
- What is a greenhouse? (I left a mini "Greenhouse" experiment for all of the kids to enjoy at home. Lima beans work great for this activity!
- How do seeds function? (I left an experiment for all of the children to study seeds. Any seeds from home will work, but Lima beans work wonderfully well.)
- What parts of a plant do you eat? Can you identify the different parts of plants that you eat?
