Here's to a Great Week Up Ahead!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Can you believe that we have arrived in the third week of September?  Time is flying in the second grade. Both expectations and routines have been established inside our classroom and your children are working diligently each day.  The first day of Fall begins on September 22nd and here's to hoping that cooler weather is around the corner.  To "kick off" the season of "Fall" the second graders will be observing "Johnny Appleseed Day!"  All of the students will be enjoying fresh sliced apples on Friday and we will be doing Johnny Appleseed based activities to assist them  in learning about this American pioneer who is known for being an amazing horticulturist who was known for his generous spirit and peaceful nature.  It will be a fun way to end our week! Second Grade Is On A Roll!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Your children are off to a great starting the second grade!  Last week,  we were able to complete all of our scheduled lessons, and so, we were able to begin learning about the seven continents and the five oceans in the content area of social studies.   The students have also completed all five of our "Discipline With a Purpose" lessons.  These religious based lessons teach children the importance of five basic learning skills, which are, the skill of listening, sharing, asking meaningful questions, following directions, and utilizing positive social skills.  So, please continue reading this newsletter to discover all that will be taking place inside the second grade classroom and right here at ACS.   Hello Second Grade Families! Welcome to the month of September!  The month where there is a feeling of fall in the air.  The time when we enjoy fresh apples, apple cider,  and homemade apple pie!  It's also the month when kids learn about the life of Johnny Appleseed.  September is also the month that will lead us into the wonderful season of fall.  Your children and I can't wait to discover all the gifts that this month will bring.  Here's to the month ahead! The Doors Are Open ~ Welcome to Learning Inside the Second Grade Classroom!

  Hello Second Grade Families, On Monday, August 31st, the doors to the lower building will be opened for students from Kindergarten through the third grade!   The teachers are so excited to see their students and to begin our academic journey with them within the walls of our classrooms.    As we begin introducing some normalcy into our lives, please know that precautions are being taken.  The desks are all facing forward, hand sanitizer pumps are available for all to utilize throughout the day, and lanyards have been purchased to help your child keep track of their mask.  One of our school nurses will also be visiting the classroom to discuss with the children how to best wash their hands and how to stay healthy and safe at school this year.   Lysol wipes have also been purchased to clean the desks each day, but should you be able to contribute any it would be greatly appreciated.   Please expect this week to be a week of review and getting to k...

 Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the second week of our distance learning lessons.  Please know that the Second Grade Interactive Classroom has been updated for your children.  The same images will remain, but every link has been updated accordingly for this week's learning.   I would highly encourage you to print off the slides for this week, as they can serve as a schedule for your children each day.  Thank you in advance for all of your patience and support as we navigate this learning model together.  Also, I know there were some computer glitches with Brain Pop Jr. and Tumble Books last week.  Below, I am providing information you may need just in case either of those links get overloaded and will not work for you.  However, please do not have your children navigate through all that Brain Pop Jr. has to offer, as we will be utilizing specific videos that correspond with the proper content being taught.   Brain Pop Jr. Login: User...

Welcome to the First Week of School ~ The Distance Learning Way!
