Advent ~ Week 1 ~ Hope

Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Happy Thanksgiving!  May each and every one of you have a blessed Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones and those that you hold dear.  This week, your children will not have their regularly planned lessons.  There is no homework this week.  There will be no spelling test this week, and the children will not be practicing their reading skills from their Journey's textbook.  Instead, the children will be focusing on creating a persuasive writing sample, reading about the history of the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indian Tribe, and we'll be covering some language arts skills that will enhance your children's knowledge in the area of grammar.  Please continue reading to discover all that will be taking place in this short, yet busy week!   ELA The students will:   be learning all about idioms! create a persuasive writing sample that focuses on the children pretending that they are a turkey.  The kids will have to persuade the farmer not to make the

The Blessings of Sweet November!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Well, we are now almost halfway through November and Thanksgiving is right around the corner!  It will be a perfect time to count our blessings and to enjoy some much needed time with those that we hold dear.  Please know that next week, your children will not have any homework.  That means this week your children will need to complete and return their Engage It reading log on Friday.  The students will also have a spelling test this coming Friday.  Friday will be a busy day for the second graders because they also will be attending the ACS all school community prayer. November is in Full Swing!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the second week of November!  Last week was a whirlwind of a week!  Your children arrived last Monday with their wonderful saintly projects and the saints came marching into the second grade classroom!  WOW!  Did your kids do an amazing job on their saintly projects.  Thank you!    Please know that your children will be learning about a wide variety of saints and the lives they led to be of service to God.  The students also enjoyed the book fair fun last week along with a wonderful celebration to honor their grandparents.  November is off to a bustling, yet exciting start!
