Catholic Schools Week!

  Hello Second Grade Families, This week is Catholic Schools Week!   Here's to celebrating faith, excellence, and service.  Your children will be coming home on Monday with a schedule of all the activities that will take place for this week.  Below, I also created a schedule to keep you informed on what will be taking place for the week. Monday ~ Celebrate the Community - Talent Show at 1:45 p.m. in the Parish Hall - free dress if you attended Mass/Open House in your full uniform on Sunday Tuesday ~ Celebrate Vocations - Vocational speaker at 9:30 a.m. for K-5, 1:15 for 6-8 - Bring a prop to school to show what you want to do for a profession (full uniform, simple props please!) Wednesday ~ Celebrate Faculty, Staff and Volunteers - Kids can wear saints socks today! Thursday ~ Celebrate the Nation - Red, White, & Blue Buck-O-Jeans Day for the kids! Winter Days!

  Hello Second Grade Families, It has been full steam ahead in the second grade this past month.  Your children have been learning all about the traits of specific animals, their habitats, what is a lifecycle, how animals are classified, and key terminology.  The kids were also introduced to typingclub.com last week!  This website allows students to become more familiar with their keyboard and enhances their typing skills.  Our winter days have been filled with learning, growing our social/emotional skills, and embracing our faith in Jesus! Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

  Hello Second Grade Families, I hope that this message finds you well and that you each had a wonderful extended weekend. This week, the students will learn about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  The message of our lessons will echo Christ's words, "Love one another as I have loved you." Also, the students have been excitedly learning all about animals, how scientists classify animals, the habitats that animals live in, and now we are moving into learning about a variety of animal lifecycles.   Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to January and our second week back from the Christmas vacation! Your children are off to a great start!  Last week, the students organized and cleaned their desks.  They also were given a new seating assignment.  Then, the kids were introduced to our new behavioral learning site called, "Class Dojo."  Finally, most of the students have earned fifteen points from Class Dojo which permitted them to rescue a "Desk Pet."  It was a busy, but exciting week for the second graders!   This week, the students will continue to have social/emotional/behavioral lessons via the Class Dojo website.  The students will also continue to earn points on Class Dojo which will allow them to purchase items from the "Pet Shop" for their new desk pet.  Please know that Class Dojo and the desk pets are an engaging way for the students to grow, develop, and make positive behavioral decisions.  Below, I have added an image of a desk pet from an

Welcome to 2022!

  Welcome Back Second Grade Families, I hope this message finds you rested, relaxed, and well after our Christmas vacation! This week your students are going to be introduced to a new behavioral/social/emotional web based program called Class Dojo!  I utilize Class Dojo every year for the second half of the school year in lieu of our behavioral clip up/down chart.   Your child will be given a Class Dojo handout in class to take home with them on Monday. The handout will relay information to you on what Class Dojo is and how to login to the program from home.  Class Dojo is also used in the third and fourth grades at ACS.  I'm certain that when your child arrives home on Monday,  they will be talking all about the Class Dojo website!  This site is engaging, meaningful, and helpful in assisting children in their social/emotional development and in promoting positive behavioral choices.  Also note, that the second graders will also be receiving a little surprise sometime in the near f
