Advent ~ Week 3 ~ The Gift of Joy!

Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the third week of advent where we celebrate the gift of joy!  This week will certainly a joyous one as it will be filled with many Christmas themed activities and events.  Our week will not consist of our typical learning lessons, but your children will be immersed in many wonderful activities that will prepare their spirits for Christmas!  May you all have a joyous week!  Please continue reading to discover all that will be taking place this week. Advent ~ Week 2, The Gift of Peace!

Hello Second Grade Families, Welcome to the second week of Advent.  The week when the "peace" candle is lit on our advent wreaths.  To embrace this season of Advent,  your children will be having a Christmas celebration on December 20th that represents the 4 candles on the advent wreath.  The students will be bringing hope, peace, joy & love to children who are in need with two activities that are in service of others.   Here is what will be taking place for our class Christmas celebration.  All of the second graders will be having a party where they visit five different stations.   The stations that the children will be experiencing are: Station #1 ~  A Craft station (the kids will be creating light up snowmen.)  All of the materials have been purchased. Station #2 ~ Writing station (The students will be writing letters to Santa Clause, or St. Nicholas, to thank him for his generosity.)  The letters will be delivered to Macy's where they contribute money

Advent ~ Week 1, The Gift of Hope!

Welcome to December Second Grade Families, This Sunday Advent began.  This week, the candle of "Hope" is to be lighted.  Your children will be lighting up our battery operated "Hope" candle in class every day this week.  Please also know that inside the second grade classroom, your children will begin a class "Jesse Tree"to help them prepare their hearts for the birth of Christ.   Below, I have attached the meaning and purpose of a Jesse Tree that was written by Tara Ziegmont.    The daily readings that will be utilized in class are from  Ms. Ziegmont's blog.  A Jesse Tree is such a wonderful way for the second graders to begin each school day during the season of Advent.   What is a Jesse Tree?
