It's a Four Day Week!

Hello Families of Second Graders,

Welcome to a four day school week!  Please know that there is no school this Friday, October 13th,  due to a Diocesan Teacher In-Service Day.  Also note that your children do not have school on Monday, October 16th. Enjoy this upcoming 4 day weekend!  Please continue reading to keep up to date on what will be taking place this week both inside the second grade classroom and right here at ACS!



Spelling ~ Double Consonants and ck
Review words for spelling are: will  and off
Challenge words for spelling are: across and pocket
Grammar ~ Proper Nouns
Writing ~ Informative Paragraph
Target Skill ~ Conclusions, Story Structure, Analyze/Evaluate

Math ~ The students will focus on Number Sense and Place Value.  This week, the students will focus on place value to the 1,000's.

Science ~   The students will continue learning about processes that shape the earth and human verses natural elements.


Religion ~ The students will have "I choose to love God" lessons utilizing their religion texts and activity books.

The students will pray during a variety of times throughout our school day.

Odds and Ends ~ Please send your child to school with headphones that they may utilize during our computer time.  Also, please know that yellow "Friday Folders" are sent home every Friday.  Please empty the contents of your student's Friday folder, sign the blue sheet to document that your child's weekly work was received, and then send the yellow folder back every Monday in your child's back pack.  Thank you!

Second Grade Homework for the Week of Oct. 9th
Due Date for Homework:  Thursday, Oct. 12th
Monday
Please read for 15 to 20 minutes and write down the title of your book utilizing the weekly “Reading Log.”
Complete the math skill review page.

Tuesday
Please read for 15 to 20 minutes and write down the title of your book utilizing the weekly “Reading Log.”
Complete the reading comprehension skill page.

Wednesday
Please read for 15 to 20 minutes and write down the title of your book utilizing the weekly “Reading Log.”
Complete the proper nouns skill page.

Don’t forget to have one of your parents sign your reading log and your agenda this evening!
Study for your Spelling Test which will take place on Thursday.

Please note that the “High Frequency Words” will not be on our weekly Spelling test.  However, they are words that the students need to become familiar with, as they will assist them in their reading fluency and writing skills.
