Counting our Blessings!

Happy Thanksgiving Second Grade Families!
May you, your children, and your loved ones have a very restful and blessed Thanksgiving.  I am grateful for all of your parental support and efforts this year, and I'm also thankful and blessed to have your children in the second grade at ACS!  This week, your children will not have their regularly scheduled core classes due to there only being two days of school.  Instead, your children will be experiencing many enrichment activities that revolve around the theme of Thanksgiving.  Please read below what will be taking place for Monday and Tuesday of this week.

ELA
Your children will be working on a persuasive writing sample.  The students will create a writing piece from the perspective of a turkey and will need to convince the farmer to serve a different main dish.  The writing samples will be added to your child's writing portfolio.

If time permits, the students will also create a menu if they were making a Thanksgiving feast!

Math
The students will visit a variety of "Math Stations" to assist them in their knowledge of adding up to 20 and subtracting from 20.

Science
The students will enjoy an "on-site" visit from the Phoenix Zoo on Monday afternoon in the lower hall!  We will be learning all about amazing animals and their habitats!

On Tuesday, the second graders will have a fourth grade buddy for a STREAM event.  This year, the students will be creating a turkey launcher for their STREAM activity.  How fun!

Religion
Our lessons will be centered around having thankful hearts.  The students will be creating a book to assist them in counting their blessings.

The students will pray during a variety of times throughout our day.
