Happy President's Day!



Welcome Back Second Grade Families,
I hope that you all enjoyed the extended four day weekend!  A weekend where our nation celebrates the history of our American President's.  Your children have completed all of their American history lessons, but we will take some time this week to discuss two of our nation's greatest leaders, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.  Please continue reading to discover what else will be taking place both in the second grade and right here at ACS.


Spelling ~ Words with or and ore
Grammar ~ Commas in a series
Writing ~ Narrative Writing
Target Skill ~ Compare and Contrast, Figurative Language, Monitor/Clarify

Math ~ The students will continue their lessons on 2 digit subtraction.

Science ~ If time permits, the students will begin learning about the properties and states of matter (solid, liquid, gas).

Religion ~ 
The students will continue to  learn and practice "The Examination of Conscience" to prepare them for the sacrament of Reconciliation.  


The students will also utilize their Religion text book to assist them in growing in their faith.  This week's lesson will focus on "The Sacrament of Penance."


The students will pray during a variety of times throughout our school day.

  • Spelling City(spellingcity.com) ~ This site will help your child in preparing for their weekly Spelling tests.
  • IXL ~ This site will assist your child in their math skills.
  • Your child's username and passwords to these sites are located inside their agendas.

Due Date for Homework:  Friday, Feb. 23rd
Monday
No School ~ President’s Day!  There will be no nightly homework due to having this day off!

Tuesday
Please read for 15 to 20 minutes and write down the title of your book utilizing the weekly “Reading Log.”  
Please complete the Math Skill page.

Wednesday
Please read for 15 to 20 minutes and write down the title of your book utilizing the weekly “Reading Log.”
Complete the Reading Comprehension page.

Thursday
Please read for 15 to 20 minutes and write down the title of your book
utilizing the weekly “Reading Log.”
Please complete the Spelling skill page.

Don’t forget to have one of your parents sign your reading log and your agenda this evening!


Study for your Spelling Test which will take place on Friday.
