Hello February!

Hello Second Grade Families,
Welcome to the month of February!  The month where we work a little harder to be loving towards others.  It's a month of showing kindness, caring, and sharing.   All of which are acts of being loving. Christ said, "Love one another as I have loved you."  With this being said, our class will be focusing on the skill of "Mindfulness" this week through our "Class Dojo" video series.   The mini lessons will teach the children how to practice "mindfulness" when they feel overwhelmed with big emotions.  These social/emotional based lessons will assist the children in being more aware of how their actions affect others.  It will be a positive way to begin the month that represents love.  The month we know as February!

Due to last week's hectic schedule, time didn't permit our class to complete a religion lesson from our text, so, this week the students will learn that "Jesus Forgives" utilizing their Jesus Our Life religion text book.  The students will hear the story about the paralytic man that Jesus cures.  As a class, we will also practice praying, "The Act of Contrition" to prepare the students for the sacrament of First Reconciliation.

The students will pray throughout their school day and this includes at daily Pledge/Prayer, before lunch, and prior to dismissal.

The students will attend our school wide Mass on Friday, February 7th at 8:10 am.

Computer Corner!

Here are child friendly websites to enhance your child's learning at home.
  • IXL ~ your child's login information is located inside their agenda.  This site can assist your child in the area of reading and math.
  • ESpark ~ your child has their login information stapled inside the front of their homework folder.  This site can be utilized to build your child's reading and math abilities.
  • Tumble Books ~ This is a free site where reading books come to life!  Your child can utilize this site to have books read to them and then they can log it on their nightly reading log.  Just click on the link below to visit Tumble Books!
  • Epic ~ This is a website that will allow you to sign up your child to read books at home through the computer too.  The students will also be able to utilize this site at school.  I'm hoping to introduce the kids to this website sometime this week because we ran out of time last week.
  • Class Dojo ~ Have your child check in from time to time to view their points and view our skill of the week videos!
