Lenten Retreat!

Hello Second Grade Families,
This Thursday, the second graders will experience a "Lenten Retreat" at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.  After the retreat, the students will return to ACS to have their lunch and recess.  Thank you to all of our parent chaperones who will be driving the students to our wonderful retreat.

ELA
Essential question that the students will answer:  
How is art connected to the past?
Target Skills:  Conclusions, Sequence of Events, Summarize
Writing Focus:  Informative Writing
Grammar Focus:  Irregular Verbs
Spelling Focus:  Suffixes -y -ly -ful

Review and Challenge Words: jumped, saying, quickly, wonderful

ITBS Prep!
The students will have mini test prep sessions to prepare them for the upcoming ITBS test that will begin on March 25th.

Math
The students will be learning about Geometry concepts.

Social Studies
The students will continue learning about the history of America's expansion out west.

Religion
The students will pray throughout their school day and this includes at daily Pledge/Prayer, before lunch, and prior to dismissal.

The students will be learning that Jesus is "The Good Shepherd" utilizing our Jesus is Our Life textbook.

The students will attend our school wide Mass on Friday, March 13th at 8:30 am.

Homework
The students are expected to read nightly for 15 to 20 minutes and to log their reading.  All of the students will need to study for the Spelling Test which will take place this upcoming Friday.  Your child's reading log needs to be completed and handed in on Friday.
