Second Grade Distance Learning

Hello Second Grade Families,
It's with a heavy heart that I am sending you this email.  Within the last 4 days, it has become evident that our country is facing a challenge with the Coronavirus.  As I know you are now aware, schools across the country have closed down until at least March 27th,  including ACS.  As a result, this will mean that our children will need a different "untraditional" model for learning.  Today, the ACS staff worked inside their classrooms to prepare learning materials for your children.  ACS will be opened on both Wednesday and Thursday of this week, so that you can stop by the classroom and pick up your child's learning items.  Please also know,  that on top of every child's desk you will find an assortment of learning materials which includes a folder with your child's name on it.  This folder has an assortment of learning activities for your child to work on.  The activities inside this folder are to assist your child in building their second grade skills and I strongly encourage that your children work on and complete the activities.  I would also strongly recommend that you bring a sturdy bag to place your child's materials into,  so that they can easily be transported home. There is quite a pile of materials! One of the materials includes a "Journey's" textbook.  I will need this textbook returned to the classroom for next year's class, but felt it would allow your child to continue their reading lessons during the next few weeks, or more if needed.  If you would also like to bring home your child's scissors, pencils, pencil box, and crayons/markers, please feel free to do so.   Please know that it's not my intention to put any family on "information overload" and I certainly understand the anxiety and uncertainty of what we all are living through at this time.  I will reach out to you again next Sunday evening to communicate how I can continue to help your child in his/her learning.  May we all continue to pray for all of those who are ill from the virus, for our nation, and for everyone affected around the world. We'll get through this!  May God bless America!

Yours in Christ,

Megan Connell
