Welcome to the Final Week of School!

 

Hello Second Grade Families,

Welcome to the very last week of the school year!

What a blessed year it has been.  Your children have grown academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  It has been such a tremendous gift to have had each and every one of your children this year.  Please know that your kids will be dearly missed but have etched a permanent place in my heart.  Please know that by Wednesday of this week, your children will be bringing home their personal writing binders.  Inside your child's binder,  you will not only find their "formal writing samples" for this school year, but you will also find their final writing sample,  along with their final math assessment and final reading fluency assessment for this school year.  Also, this week, the kids will be enjoying a "Second Grade Camp Theme" for all of their fun learning activities.  It's going to be a fun and engaging way to end our final week together as a second grade class community.  Please continue reading, so that you can be informed of what your child's "Camp" schedule looks like for this week.


Camp Schedule for the Week of May 24th through May 28th 

  • Monday ~  The Second Grade will be leading Community Prayer today!
  • Let's learn all about insects!  
  • Our final Art Special is today with Mrs. Hemmelein.

  • Tuesday ~ The kids will create camp stories today!  
  • The sixth grade has invited us to take a tour around the world!  Your children will be given a passport and will visit specific stations to learn about other countries and their cultures.
  • The kids have Spanish Class and PE today.

  • Wednesday ~ The second graders will go to Mass this morning! 
  • Memory Books will be made in class today!
  • The kids will enjoy solving Camping themed Math problems.
  • The kids will enjoy their final Music class with Mrs. Trayer.

  • Thursday ~  Camp clean up day!  The second graders will be focusing on organizing the classroom and cleaning out their desks, cubbies, and materials.  
  • Have your children bring their favorite board game today!
  • The kids will enjoy a movie today with their class :)
  • Class Party will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.
  • The second graders have PE class today.

  • Friday ~ The awards ceremony will take place today!
  • Have your child bring their favorite board game again today!
  • The students will be dismissed today at noon.  There is no child care today.

  Hello Second Grade Families, The last week of the school year has arrived...and so, here's to making this last week together fun, special, and positively memorable!  Please know that we will be doing a lot of unique and engaging learning activities this week in order to keep the students learning in a more interesting and exciting way! Let's Take A Moment to Stop And Smell the Roses!

  Hello Second Grade Families, There are only ten more days of school left!  Let's stop to savor these last few weeks of second grade.  Please know that your child will not have anymore spelling tests, or nightly reading homework.  Enjoy the extra family time and allowing your child to get a full night's rest. May is in full swing!

  Hello Second Grade Families, Happy Mother's Day to all of our wonderful second grade moms!  I hope that you each have had a beautiful day!  May is off to a busy start and your children are anticipating the gift of summer that's right around the corner.  Below are a few items to keep you in the loop about both school wide behavioral expectations and second grade academics. The students are required to have their shirts tucked in while school is in session.  Jackets are no longer needed as it is now warming up. The second graders will have a Spelling test this week, so make sure to have your child study in order to best prepare them for their test on Friday. There will be no more reading homework for the remainder of the school year! All of the second graders will soon be assessed on their reading fluency prior to exiting the grade level.  Your child's reading abilities will be communicated to you with your child's report card at the end of the school year.
