The Saints Come Marching In!


 Happy All Day Second Grade Families!

May I begin by saying thank you for the wonderful birthday goodies!  The flowers, the yummy treats, the Fall themed home decor, and the gift cards warmed my heart.  Please know that my heart is filled with gratitude for your kind and thoughtful birthday gestures.  Thank you!!!

Well, this week begins the month of November and it kicks off with the feast of All Saint's Day!  The students will be attending an all school Rosary on All Saint's Day at 2:20 p.m.  Our students will celebrate the feast of All Saint's Day and Grandparent's Day this coming Friday, November 5th,  at 8:15 a.m.  The students will also be released at noon this Friday, November 5th, so please plan accordingly.

The students will continue learning about double digit addition concepts and strategies utilizing our Big Ideas Math textbooks.

Science

The students will begin learning about processes that shape the earth.

 
Religion

  • The students will attend an all school Rosary, on Monday, November 1st at 2:20 p.m.
  • The students will attend an all school Mass on Friday, November 5th at 8:15 a.m. inside St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.
  • The students will be learning all about the lives of a wide variety of saints.
Homework
  • The students All Saints "mini posters" are due on Monday, November 1st.
  • The students will need to study for their Spelling Test.  However, due to Grandparent's Day, the students will be tested on Thursday, November 4th.
  • The students will be given a new reading log for this week.  Please have your child read for at least fifteen minutes nightly, and have them neatly fill out their reading logs.

 

Don't forget that every second grader has access to the following websites to assist them in the areas of Reading and Math

  • RAZ Kids (the students may use this site to complete their nightly reading homework)
  • Splash Math Learning (This site will assist your child in mastering mathematical concepts that are taught inside our second grade classroom.)

Monday ~ Art at 12:10

Tuesday ~ Spanish at 12:30 p.m. P.E. at 1:45 p.m. 

Wednesday ~ Mass Day at 8:15 a.m. 

                        Spanish 9:40 and Music at 1:00


Thursday ~    P.E. at 1:45 p.m.

Friday ~  There are no specials on Friday!

Upcoming Events

October 29, Friday: BOOK FAIR STARTS TODAY!  ACS students & families love shopping at the Book Fair!!  Get some early Christmas shopping done or find a gift for that special someone.  The book fair will be taking place on October 29, 30, 31 and November 1,2,3,4,and 5.

November 2, Tuesday:  AHG (American Heritage Girls) meeting today in the Ministry Building from 3:30pm – 5:00pm followed by a parent meeting at 5pm.

November 3, Wednesday:  Dedication Mass and Blessing of the New Church 5 p.m.  We will start Mass in the current Church.  All are welcome.

November 3, Wednesday:  No daily school Mass.  We will celebrate together on Friday.

November 5, Friday – Grand Parents Day and All Saints Day  – 
8:15 – All School Mass (No school Mass on Nov. 3)  No free dress. All students in ACS uniform. 8th graders in light blue polo.

9:15 – Parade of Saints – Kindergarten

9:30 – Meet some Saints – 1st grade

9:45 – Refreshments for Grandparents & Special Guests; students return to classrooms

10:30 – Grandparents/Guests visit classrooms and shop at the book fair

12:00 – Dismissal for students
