Hello Second Grade Families,

May the luck of the Irish be with you as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day this week!  Your children will be learning about the life of St. Patrick in our classroom.  Also, on Friday, March 18th, your children will be experiencing a Lenten retreat at the newly installed Stations of the Cross right at St. Gabriel's.  The students will also have Lenten activities that will be taking place inside our classroom on Friday.  It's going to be a wonderfully faith filled week!

Math 

The students are focusing on geometry concepts and soon will be moving into the partitioning of shapes.  The partitioning of shapes is a fraction concept.

Science

The students will begin learning about plants.

Religion

  • The students will continue learning about the season of Lent.
  • The students will utilize their Jesus Our Life textbooks to focus on "Jesus Forgives."  
  • The students will continue to practice the Act of Contrition and we will begin learning this prayer to prepare the students for the sacrament of First Reconciliation. 
  • The students will be attending our all school Mass on Wednesday, March 16th at 8:15 a.m. inside St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.
  • The students will be learning about the life of St. Patrick.
  • The students will be experiencing a Lenten retreat onsite on Friday, March 18th.


Don't forget that every second grader has access to the following websites to assist them in the areas of Reading and Math

  • RAZ Kids (the students may use this site to complete their nightly reading homework)
  • Splash Math Learning (This site will assist your child in mastering mathematical concepts that are taught inside our second grade classroom.)
  • The students will continue learning how to type using our class set of Chrome Books this week utilizing the typingclub.com website.

The students will need to complete this week's March reading log.
The reading log is due on Friday, March 18th.
The students will also need to study their Spelling words in order to best prepare for their Spelling test on Friday.

Tuesday ~ Spanish at 12:30 p.m. P.E. at 1:45 p.m. 

Wednesday ~ Mass Day at 8:15 a.m. 

                        Spanish 9:40 and Music at 1:00

Thursday ~    P.E. at 1:45 p.m.

Friday ~  There are no specials on Friday!

Upcoming Events

March 18, Friday:  8th grade Free Dress for $1.  All funds will go towards the 8th grade Flagstaff Trip.  Thank you in advance for your support.  Please adhere to the ACS student uniform guidelines for non-uniform dress.

Future Happenings:

March 20, Sunday:  Family Mass at 10:30 am at St Gabriel.  Students in ACS uniform may wear free-dress on Monday.  Please adhere to the ACS student uniform guidelines for non-uniform dress.

March 20, Sunday:  Mother/Son Event  1 – 3pm at ACS.  Come enjoy tailgating and dress up as your favorite team.  RSVP information to come out soon.

March 26, Saturday: Annual Daddy & Daughter Dance 6:30 – 8:30pm, ACS Outdoor Pavilion. Save the Date for our Annual Daddy & Daughter Dance! Invitations have been sent home with ACS girls last week.
